Biography
Nadim Shabou was initially catapulted into the poker spotlight after finishing fourth, then second, in the televised 2004 Ultimate Poker Challenge series, finishing the year as Arizona's top player.
In 2005, he played in the 36th WSOP, with the $1500 NL buy-in event giving him his first cash as he finished in 53rd place out of 1,600 players.
He had to take a break from poker for medical reasons, but came back in 2007 with a cash at the L.A Poker Classic, courtesy of a 25th place finish in the $1000 NL buy-in event.
At the Las Vegas "Venetian Deep Stack Extravaganza" he took 6th place.
Nadim followed that up with a performance which showed he could hold his own against some of the biggest names in poker: at the "Legends Of Poker" $5000 NL buy-in event he finished in 2nd place, despite a hugely challenging final table packed with stars such as Barry Greenstein, David "the Dragon" Pham, JC Tran, and Chau Giang.
Since then, Nadim has also cashed at the WPT main event In Gulfport, Mississippi with a 25th place finish, plus various cashes at the Borgata, Atlantic City, and in Tucson, Arizona at the main event of the "Heartland Poker Tour".
Since his comeback in 2007, Nadim has established himself as a strong competitor on the tournament circuit.
Nadim was educated in Paris, France (Dauphine University, College Degree in Economics).
He started his first company in 1989, importing promotional products and toys from China, and playing no-limit 5 card draw in his free time.
He moved to the USA in 1997 and began learning the game of Texas Hold'em.
Nadim has been teaching poker to private students since 2006.
His students have been absorbing his training and translating his lessons into results at the poker table.
At the 2006 Arizona State Championship ladies' event, one of Nadim's students, Debbie Blair, took first place in a field of 400 players, and went deep in the WSOP 2007 Main Event, finishing 176th out of over 6500 players to cash for over $50,000.
Nadim currently lives in Tucson, Arizona with his stunning wife, Chon, of 15 years and two beautiful children, Alec & Anea, aged 23 and 9.
